For the 2nd time this year Providence College has upset the number 14 Uconn Huskies. PC outscored Uconn by 10 in the second half and went on to beat them 85-76, lead by Weynimi Efejuku (27 pts) and Jeff Xavier (23). Uconn did not look ready to play and PC came out confident. The Huskies were extremely sloppy with the ball throughout the game which lead to 21 turnovers. They certainly fell short of AJ Price’s prediction (who only had 11 points).
AJ Price was quoted in the Hartford Courant saying
We’ll be ready to go. … We want to blow them out. That’s what we’re going there to play for.”
In the words of Happy Gilmore “The Price is WRONG b*tch”
While UConn was fighting for a better seed in the NCAA tournament, the Friars are just fighting to get into the Big East tournament. The Friars now have a hold on the 12th and final seed over Depaul plus they own the tie breaker over them. The Friars now have played the top four teams in the Big East tough; beating Uconn twice and hung with Lousiville (leading with 5 mins to play), Georgetown and Norte Dame (OT Loss).
Now by all means I am not saying that PC can win the Big East Tourney but I do believe that they can make some noise if they play with confidence.
