Jabar back with the Pats

March 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The NFL network is reporting that Jabar Gaffney and the Patriots agree to a one year deal. Good move by both parties. Gaffney fits well in the 3 spot for the Pats and was getting more and more play over Stallworth later in the year. Look for him to put up pretty good numbers with defenses doubling Moss and Welker. This deal shores up the wide receiving core. 1 – Moss 2- (slot) Welker 3 (opposite flanker) Gaffney 4/5- Kelly Washington, Chad Jackson  6 Clay Aiken

Gaffney had 36 receptions for 449 yards and five touchdowns last season. His numbers will increase next year if he is able to hold off Kelly and Chad off for the number 3 WR spot.

One of the all time greatest retires….Goodbye Brett Favre, you will be missed..

March 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Brett Favre was/is one of my all time favorite players. He played like a kid on the field and always had fun playing the game. Favre had balls of steel and played loose. I admired that about him.  The Packers and the NFL will not be the same without Brett Favre, so I made a little musical montage for him:

Goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend….

Sam I Am: I do Like Green Eggs, Jerseys and Ham

March 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

As expected Sam Cassell signs with the Green Jerseys, the Celtics. This is a hugggge addition especially for the playoffs. He has the playoff experience at the PG position that the celtics desperately needed. He will be the guy we need who can shut down Chancey Billups vs the Pistons in the playoffs. As CelticsBlog.com and Bill Simmons points out Cassell does all the little things the can put your team ahead. http://www.celticsblog.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2536&Itemid=189

Cassell was offered more money with the Mavericks but decided that the celtics were his best shot at a championship. Cant wait to see Sam I am in that Green Jersey. (he wont be playing Wednesday vs the Pistons though)

Webster quick to be a Patriot

March 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It did not take long for CB Jason Webster to agree with the Patriots on a contract. Webster met with team officials today and agreed on a contract, even canceling a trip to the Giants.  Webster should fill the role that Randall Gay. Webster is in his 8th year and has previously played for the Niners, Falcons and Bills. When healthy he can be a solid contributor and I think if he stays healthy he will thrive in the 3rd CB position.

Also of note the Pats signed special teams standout Sam “I am Not Clay” Aiken. Sam has 19 career receptions playing for the Bills and was a standout in Kick and Punt Coverage. The deal is for 2 years.
